Mexico ranks 12th in the world for population and economy, and it boasts one of the world’s most sophisticated credit infrastructures. Nearly 100 percent of the adult population is covered by its primary bureau, and the World Bank lists Mexico as the fifth easiest country for establishing personal or business credit. The combination of these factors makes Mexico appealing to companies eager to expand in Latin America.
Mexico governs data protection through the Federal Personal Data Law (FPDL) which requires businesses that collect personal information on individuals to first receive consent through online, written or verbal means. The law does not require consent, however, if the information is already available in the public domain.
Mexico’s FPDL takes a permissive approach to the use of legally collected personal information, placing few restrictions on allowable uses of the data.
GDC has integrated a comprehensive set of Mexico data sources from in-country partners. With one point of access, we cover 96 percent of the addressable adult population with data from various government, commercial and consumer sources.

With GDC’s Data as a Service model, all data is stored and maintained in Mexico in compliance with the country’s Federal Personal Data Law and its related regulatory guidelines. The sources are independent reference data sets that are qualified for identity verification use cases, and they are reliably updated and maintained by GDC’s data partners. No personally identifiable information leaves the source databases in the process of verifying identities.

Identity Verification Partners
The GDC global identity verification platform integrates the best available data and verification intelligence curated from our dozens of in-country partners. Each partner maintains identity verification solutions in their home country, helping in-country clients solve a variety of business problems. They deliver the most reliable identity verification results because they speak the language, understand the regulatory environment, and offer local expertise.
Before joining the consortium, partners are required to go through a thorough vetting process, and their data must pass rigorous testing before it is released to GDC customers. But once they qualify to participate, they are our true partners and a big part of the GDC difference.
